General Description:
Seattle Youth Garden Works (SYGW), a program of The Church Council of Greater Seattle, is a market-garden based employment program for youth (ages 14-21) who are experiencing poverty, homelessness or other significant challenges in Seattle.
Pathways is a transitional shelter for 15-17 year olds. The Life Skills Coach (LSC) will be responsible for implementing life skills plans for each of the residents. They will be in charge of creating ways to teach life skills with the help of the Pathways team. The LSC will be working with youth in small groups and one on one. AmeriCorps members will act as an overnight shelter lead and assist with program duties and coordination of volunteers during program hours; regular attendance for scheduled shelter shifts is critical; during non-program hours take a leadership role in one of the following areas: outreach and advocacy coordinator, resource procurement coordinator, breakfast crew coordinator, volunteer coordinator including recruitment and training of 40-55 community volunteers who will each contribute 10-20 hours of service, members will visit community partner social service programs to better understand comm
